The Gear Guide

Karl BadgerDear Guides and Outfitters:

It was a real pleasure to spend a few days with some of the members of WYGOA at their annual convention in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The highlight of the event was the opportunity to see the new Ram Outdoorsman pickup truck, as well as the Timberline Camp Trailers. We anticipate scheduling some more of these events in the months ahead and will be providing you with a calendar of dates and locations when they become available. Havalon Knives, First Lite, Vanguard Optics—purchase a pair of Endeavor Binoculars and receive a pair of free shooting sticks, Achieve o2, Goal Zero, Dri Duck, Lethal Products as well as a Remington Rebate are spotlighted below.

As Always, Gear Up and Get Out.

Karl Badger, Field Editor

Dodge Ram Outdoorsman

The Ram Outdoorsman is truly a pickup made for the Professional Guide and Outfitter. It’s got all the equipment you need for towing, hauling and storing.

Remington

Remington is currently offering a Rebate to our Top Rated Outfitters. The total amount is $208 on certain shot guns and ammunition. If you’d like one of the rebate cards, just email me at kbadger@ypc.net and I’ll mail you out as many as you need.

VANGUARD Endeavor Binoculars

VANGUARD Endeavor Binoculars, represent the high quality found in all VANGUARD products. VANGUARD has a proud and proven reputation around the world for manufacturing products that will stand up to some of the most extreme conditions that an Outdoorsman will ever experience.

Havalon Knives are proving to be the most effective tool for capping and skinning. Consider these testimonials. The value of these knives, is that they’re surgically sharp and can be easily replaced with other blades when one becomes dull. Havalon knives can be purchased at Sportsman’s Warehouse or directly from the Havalon web site.

Lethal Products

Lethal Products offers the ultimate scent elimination, created by chemists and tested by professionals. These products should be used by any hunter who is serious about scent protection. Professional Guides will want to keep an eye on the Lethal web site for special pricing and unique offers.

RW Rope

I’ve been wearing First Lite merino wool products everyday since January, when I saw this company receiving awards and recognition at the 2011 SHOT Show. Merino wool has proven itself as a superior base layer product for its wicking and insulation benefits. First Lite has taken these benefits and crafted them into some well designed tops, bottoms and mid layer products, that should be on the backs of every Professional Guide and Outfitter.

Goal Zero Solar Panel

Goal Zero manufactures portable solar power equipment; which can add to the comfort and security of your camp. Their product line consists of solar panels, storage converter’s and accessories. The Goal Zero product line can enhance the atmosphere of any base or spike camp.

Achieve o2 Socks

Achieve o2 Socks are some of the most high-tech socks that I’ve ever worn. They are made of Celliant yarns. Celliant has been clinically proven to increase oxygen levels in the body…something we all need while pursuing our favorite outdoor activities. Take a few minutes and research the benefits of Celliant and the Achieve-o2 product line.

Dri-Duck Jacket

Dri-Duck manufactures some of the best Outfitter Outerwear that I’ve ever worn. Their jackets come in a broad range of material and designs including micro fleece to washed canvas. They easily beat competitors prices on similar designed products, while living up to their motto of “Rugged Essentials”.

Camp Traditions

Camp Traditions Soups from Mary and Maggie are the most hearty and tasty soups that I’ve ever eaten.  Their selections are nourishing and easy to prepare.  My favorites thus far are the 3 cheese, Beef Barley and Chili.  These soups can stand on their own as a complete meal, or can supplement a lunch and dinner menu. Fill your pantry and packs with these soups… your clients and guests will be glad you did.
